The location was perfect for our purposes, a short walk to the Cathedral and (in the other direction) to the quayside, with its restaurants, information centre and boat trips. Our room was a good size, quiet, and with everything we needed to make our stay of six nights very comfortable. The breakfasts were very good, even when the hotel was full of guests. Perfect scrambled eggs and everything else to get our active days off to a good start. All the members of staff were very pleasant, and worked to a high standard. Special mention for Dawn, who is a lovely lady and made us feel cared for throughout our stay. We will definitely put Holiday Inn hotels at the top of our list for other staycations, and hope that they meet Exeter standards.

Staff could not have been more helpul especially Joardan in that he found me a parking space (his own) when we returned from Westpoint to find the car park, for which I had already paid full. (This is a council operateted CP with an electronic number plate recognition and departure time log system so how can it be oversubscribed?) Direct connection phone to Apple Taxis which, for us, was very useful to get to main centre as partner is disabled and Hotel is well below the high geographical points of the city. Very comfortable beds and proper twin rooms and even a choice of pillows.

The helpfulness of the staff was particularly evident, they couldn't have been more welcoming & really made us feel they appreciated our custom. The cleanliness of the whole building was exceptional, the shower rooms, looked like we were the first users & the bedroom was spotless. The air conditioning was really appreciated after a long, hot journey., easy to use & very effective. There was excellent choice for breakfast, cooked, pastries, fruit, etc, etc, with eat as much as you like, self service & no rush to leave our table.

I spend three nights at the Holiday Inn Express - Exeter and seldom have I experienced such a service-orientated and friendly group of hotel staff, without expection. For me, the location was perfect, just next to the river, not too far from the centre of town. Breakfast was good with a variety of English fare, and most importantly, the coffee was excellent. Even when I remained in my room til late morning, the cleaning service took care that everything was immaculate for the next evening. I'll be back!

Ideal location (we have stayed here before), by the River Exe, close to University, St David's station, the historic Quayside, and Exeter town centre. Really welcoming and wonderfully set up quiet room. Mains and USB power points each side of the bed were very welcome, which is not always the case in many hotels, including other Holiday Inn Expresses... Excellent breakfast including Marmite for those marmite lovers...
